imaginary love (your ode)
Hello and welcome to an ode poem! This is a poem I wrote for a poetry workshop class I’m currently enjoying. Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and opinions. I’m curious, do you have an imaginary love? I guess I always assumed everyone did, so here’s a window into mine! I hope you enjoy reading and again, thanks for visiting!
yours, Belle
imaginary love
ethereal and warm and strong and pleasant
i think i like you best in darkness as i
sink against pillows that beckon
they know you too
fire and feeling and turmoil and yearning
i beg my eyelids resist waking
pleading for one more moment in your embrace
wrap your
invisible arms
around my
mind
where i can feel them dig
your physical absence is draining
but i close my eyes and we’re
closer than proximity permits
sweet and supple, endearing, and trouble
you steer me from the present
to an oasis of awe
there, we never part
we never duck nor withhold
we unravel under silks of ugly truths
and bathe in ponds of delirium
no one begins, no one halts
we become a river of electromagnetic prongs
sparking chord in unison
we light corridors long forgotten
thighs grazing ancient meadows
you are the flame persisting
atop oceans of wax
the glimpse of a hope harbored
as time continues to pass
