Squire’s Diner (Financial District, New York)
When I think about Squire’s Diner, I think of meals in-between classes, warm coffee on cold winter days, and my good friend William. This has been one of our favorite breakfast spots since I stumbled into it about a year ago. If you’re looking for a solo spot, a low-key date option, or a place to bring the family- look no further!
Location & Vibes
Squire’s Diner is located right off Fulton St., toward Seaport in the Financial District. It’s the perfect place to go tuck in at and then unravel for a walk by the pier afterwards.
If I’m being 100% honest with you (as I always hope to be) this isn’t the gourmet-must-try-blow-your-mind type of restaurant that people are typically hunting for in New York. I think that’s what’s so charming about it though! If you’re looking for a place to slow down or want to escape the hustle and fancy bustle of the city- this is where you’ll find just that.
A small no-frills diner with the same good ol’ vibes you’d expect. The prices are mid-tier. I would say they can be a little high for what you’re getting. (We are still in New York City after all!)
Service & Food
The staff is always kind, always cleaning the tables, and ready to bring you whatever it is you need. There’s been a few times where I’ve just come to finish up some work on my laptop. Those days, they’ve kept the coffee flowing and always have found me a nice comfy booth to type away at.
Though the menu is a typically huge diner sized beast, William and I always opt for the pancakes, his always being the Reese’s Pieces and mine usually plain with some kind of fruit. On this day, I chose the Nutella pancakes with the Nut on the side. (Great option, if I do say so myself!)
Overall Thoughts
Squire’s Diner is a great spot to keep in your back pocket when you’re looking for a reliably good spot. It’s a place I’ll come back to time and time again, probably mostly with William for those pancakes we love. Pull up a chair!
yours, Belle
