Characters We Know

Sometimes I meet people that I feel like I already know, and not in the romantic kind of way. Their archetype, their manner, their brand–it’s been done before. Are we then all copies of someone else? And who does it better, them or us?

Or is it just that there are some stereotypical personalities that are more infamous and thus simpler to recognize?

I wonder if we each have different sets of these; different clockable types–or is it universal? I think not. For all of us have a different knowledge base. Some are more versed in classical works, while some are current in pop and modern culture.

So then, if I meet someone, and say “Oh, I know this type of person,” and they are (forgive me,) unpalatable–maybe more fairly–unsurprising, there is a chance someone thinks this way of me too.

And it really doesn’t matter, it’s only natural that not everyone will like you. But I think it’s important to remember and in some ways, makes the unpalatable more palatable. If you can empathize with them and understand that they too are hoping to be loved, just like everyone else.
